In Search of Shakespeare

Kids LOVE Shakespeare!  Shakespeare's stories have always proved fascinating to young children.  Shakespeare is for kids, and when incorporated into your student's learning,  your student will learn to appreciate Shakespeare’s contribution to the arts and the English language, and will form a lifelong appreciation for this great poet and playwright.

In this course students will learn about Shakespeare and his contributions to literature. Not only will students read about Shakespeare and read his works, but they will learn about his life and times through skits and hands on activities.  Staging swordplay, learning to juggle, and creating costumes bring the theater arts to life. Making a quill pen and using it to write a story, binding a simple book by hand, creating a fragrant pomander ball and a dish of stewed apples show what daily life was like in Elizabethan times. Inspired by scenes from Shakespeare’s works and plays, the students will invent new words, write songs and sonnets, and devise scathing or comical insults just as he did.
