Basic Cartooning and Comic Book Drawing

 

Does your child love to draw cartoons or comic book characters?

 

Have you children ever dreamed about creating their own characters, plot and storyline - maybe even their own comic book?

 

In this course student learn the basics of drawing and creating  their very own cartoon characters. Students will learn how to build bodies from basic shapes, and how to convey emotions through facial expressions and body language. Students will also learn the basics of writing and creating their own comics book characters. Students will learn about how to construct a story, different types of panel transitions, how pictures and words relate to one another, character creation, the basic formatting of a comic book script, and more. All artist levels (beginner to advanced) are accepted.  Each class will start with a ten minute warm up game followed by lecture.

 

Supplies needed:Notebook, 9" x 12" sketch pad, ruler, circle template, 90 degree triangle, pencil (either a mechanical, F pencil, or an HB), 

eraser (pink or kneadable), and Sharpie markers (fine tip and extra fine tip).

 

 

Class time: 1:00pm - 1:55am - Tuesday
